Maintenance Mechanic I
The Product Research Center (PRC) Maintenance Technician is responsible for performing a variety of tasks related to facility improvements, and preventive and corrective maintenance. The Maintenance Technician may complete required tasks and/or pursue external resources to complete those tasks, which may include planning, prioritizing, monitoring and inspecting the work of contracted vendors in the construction, modification, maintenance and repair of PRC buildings, facilities and equipment. Items may include air compressors, cooling towers, pump systems, electric motors, HVAC, test equipment, and test equipment infrastructure.
- Daily walk-through of the PRC building to verify equipment and infrastructure is operating as expected to ensure PRC readiness.
- Develop, execute and maintain a robust preventative maintenance program for the PRC facility with the goal of zero downtime.
- Responsible for ordering and stocking of critical spare parts and consumables.
- Maintain and perform service on all equipment, pumps, and motors.
- Comply with hazardous material storage, use, handling and disposal requirements, as well as OSHA, building, fire, and other regulatory code requirements.
- Maintain accurate and complete facilities records.
- Provide regular project updates to management, including written and verbal, as requested.
- Develop and maintain a comprehensive network of external contractors and resources to ensure timely response and minimize facility/equipment downtime.
- Assist PRC Manager with a 24-hour, 7-day facility operation, and respond to emergency calls 24-hours a day, 7 days per week.
- Perform all work neatly, with excellent craftsmanship, and in accordance with all safety policies.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
- High School Diploma, or G.E.D, supplemented by technical or college course work in facility maintenance AND seven (7) years of experience in commercial facilities maintenance performing skilled maintenance and project coordination; OR an equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties.
- Experience with electrical, mechanical, hydraulic and pneumatic systems.
- Experience operating and maintaining pumps, motors, and VFDs.
- General building repairs and maintenance.
- Knowledge of electrical/mechanical schematics, blueprints, drawings and manuals.
- Familiarity with electrical and mechanical safety precautions.
- Excellent interpersonal, written and verbal communications skills.
- Team oriented individual.
- A self-starter, capable of working with little direction.
- Must be able to lift 35lbs and handle pipe fitting assemblies.
DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Experience using a Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS)
- PLC and LabVIEW programming and troubleshooting experience.
