12-200 Station Smart Controller

Rain Bird has pre-packaged the ESP-LX Series controller with the ET Manager Cartridge to create Rain Bird ESP-ET controllers. Save money buying these products packaged together rather than separately.

These two products together combine the powerful flow management features of the ESP-LX Series and the water saving features ET Manager Cartridge. The effect is the ability to save water by making real-time adjustments to the irrigation schedule based on hourly weather information and manage available water capacity to shorten irrigation times. These smart controllers have Water Sense approval and have demonstrated 20% - 50% savings over traditional control systems.

ESP-LXMEF Controller

The ESP-LXMEF features a standard Flow Smart Module™ for flow learning, logging and problem reaction. Flo-Watch™ protection monitors high and low flow conditions with user-defined reactions. The Flow Smart Module is compatible with IQ v2.0 Central Control and the Advanced Flow Sensing Feature Pack.

Station Modules

Expand the ESP-LXME from eight to 48 stations in four-station increments using SM4, SM8 and SM12 station modules. These easy-to-install modules snap into one of four bays on the controller chassis. Dynamic Station Numbering eliminates numbering gaps between stations for easy, confusion-free programming.


The ESP-LXME Controller has two mounting options, an optional LXMM Metal Wall-Mount Case and LXMM-PED Metal Pedestal. The ESP-LXME standard plastic case field installs into the LXMM and can be wall-mounted or attached to the LXMM-PED for free-standing controller applications. The LXMM and LXMM-PED use powder-coated steel for years of rust-free operation. The pedestals are also available in stainless steel, LXMMSS & LXMMSSPED.

Flow Smart Module

Standard with the ESP-LXMEF and available as an upgrade to the ESP-LXME, the Flow Smart Module provides flow learning, logging and problem reaction. Learn more about the Flow Smart Module.

Flow Sensors

Combine the ESP-LXME with Rain Bird® Flow Sensors for precise and accurate flow monitoring (Flow Smart Module also required). Choose from a variety of sensor sizes, operating ranges and types for the solution that best meets your needs. Learn more about Flow Sensors.

Rain/Freeze Sensors

Add a Rain Bird® Rain/Freeze Sensor to your ESP-LXME to save time, improve system performance and can enhance your reputation as a water management expert.

ET Manager Cartridge incorporates a rain gauge input, for optional local rain fall measurement. Rain Bird offers the ETM-RG tipping bucket rain gauge as an accessory to the ET Manager Cartridge. The tipping rain gauge is an ideal complement to the ET Manager Cartridge, this electronic gauge accurately measures rain to 1mm per tip, reducing run-off from over-watering and avoiding landscape damage. The rain gauge is durable, weatherproof, and resists UV and extreme temperatures. Measurements per tip are accurate, with a maximum +/- 2% deviation. Each gauge includes a 30’ cable.

Remote Mounting Kit

Rain Bird also offers a remote mounting kit, ETMRMK, so that the antenna can be remotely mounted to improve signal reception or remotely locate the antenna to prevent vandalism. The kit contains a 30’ (9,1 m) cable, connector and junction box. The cable must be installed in conduit for outdoor applications.


The Rain Bird® Anemometer can add yet another weather-based component to your ESP-LXME by providing site-specific wind speed measurements. The controller can interrupt irrigation when wind velocity reaches a programmed set point. Learn more about the Rain Bird® Anemometer.


The WaterSense label certifies that the ESP-ET has passed the EPA’s rigorous testing and confirms that the controller is at least 20 percent more efficient than other products, without sacrificing performance. All models of the Rain Bird ESP-ET controller are now EPA WaterSense approved.
