RAIN BIRD DEMONSTRATES ENVIRONMENTAL COMMITMENT AS A CONTINUING SPONSOR OF ELGA PROGRAM

ORLANDO, Fla. (February, 2005) — Rain Bird Golf is proud to announce its continued partnership with the Golf Course Superintendents Association of America (GCSAA) and Golf Digest magazine in presenting the 2004 Environmental Leaders in Golf Awards (ELGA).

The ELGA program recognizes golf course superintendents around the world for their commitment to environmental stewardship. As a presenting partner of the awards, Rain Bird will donate to the Environmental Institute for Golf $500 for each of the three national and one international winners and $50 for each chapter winner.

“In recognizing sound environmental practices in maintaining and beautifying greens, the ELGA awards honor those who have demonstrated their commitment to preserving the earth’s resources,” said Barbara Booth, Rain Bird’s Golf Division director. “These awards bring attention to the necessity of maintaining environmental balance and support Rain Bird’s commitment to promote The Intelligent Use of Water™.”

The awards will be presented at the general session of the GCSAA Education Conference on February 11, 2005 at the Orange County Convention Center.

National winners of the 2004 ELGA awards are:

  • National Public and Overall Winner: Mark Claburn, Tierra Verde Golf Club, Arlington, Texas
  • National Private Winner: John F. Anderson, The Club at Pronghorn, Sunriver, Ore.
  • National Resort Winner: Sandy C. Clark, Barona Creek Golf Club, San Diego, Calif.
