AZUSA, Calif. (Sept. 9, 2016) — The City of Sierra Madre set an example for its citizens by replacing City Hall’s irrigation system with a water-efficient Rain Bird drip irrigation system that uses weather-based irrigation control and drought tolerant plants. To accentuate the overall design, the project also included pathways, a picnic area with artistic rockwork, and a dry creek bed.
Chris Cimino, Sierra Madre City Landscape Maintenance Director stated, “The City is very pleased with the new irrigation system, as “installation was fast and easy using Rain Bird's QF Dripline Header, as well as beautiful since we installed Rain Bird XFS Subsurface Dripline so there are few visible irrigation lines.” To help maintain an optimal watering schedule a Rain Bird ESP-LXME Series Controller was installed with IQ Global Weather service to monitor and manage irrigation needs. Watering needs have gone from seven days per week to three days per week while still maintaining healthy plants.
